This is really testing my memory, but wasn't Heather Smeltz in Hastings for one or two years only? I seem to remember that she came from California (why anyone would leave this haven of sun and fun, I don't know) and then left again when her father was transferred...
I remember that she had never seen snow before and I thought that was so weird.
