While we keep Wayne Anthony and Sue Stein Klubock's families in our
thoughts, another classmate also had a family member pass away this
past week. Per Glenn Martin, Rosanne Ravinsky's father Tony passed
away last weekend. The wake was on Monday and burial on Tuesday. Glenn
said that Tony Ravinsky was a Hastings graduate and recent inductee
into the HHS Hall of Fame. He was also very active with the Southside
Club.
Please join me in sending healing wishes to all three families.

I am very, very saddened to hear of all three losses.
I saw Tony Ravinsky back in the summer. We were neighbors. His wife Fran
had called me when I was back at Mom's house recently to see how she was
doing. Roseanne and her brother Tony were friends of mine when we were
kids. We were a tight nit block. We used to go to their house in the summer
and swim at their pool and play Michigan rummy (back then we couldn't join
the Hastings Pool since we were in the unincorporated area of Greenburgh.)
Mr. Ravinsky was a talented man who could fix or create it seemed just about
anything.
Dorothy was my cadet leader in girl scouts (as was Julie's mom.) She was
indeed a character and a very lively and interesting person. She remains
very vivid in my memory.
I sincerely hope and wish that 2010 is a good year for all of you and your
loved ones.

People have been asking...
John is Wicky Rudd's younger brother.
According to Wick, his brother John collapsed at home Sunday afternoon
around 2pm. He hadn't picked his daughter up at soccer practice. She
obtained a ride and found him. Wick went on to say they think it was a
massive heart attack or brain aneurysm and are waiting to hear.
There will probably be a memorial service in RI, then one in NY, with burial
of Johns ashes at Woodlawn in the Bronx, next to their father.
More when we know more...

A reunion? Yes! Our 35th, but all classes will be welcome to the free
events and any dinner if they pay!
While we know that no date will satisfy everyone's schedules, we
should start voting now to find the one that satisfies the most
people.
To start off, here are two date suggestions:
July 4th - because it is a long weekend and helps those visiting from
out of town (NOTE: every time I mention it to locals, they say that's
when they want to get OUT of town, but if we can get more out-of-town
guests to attend, I was hoping the locals would reconsider).
Homecoming Weekend - because many classmates from our class and others
will already be in town. Plus there is the activity of the football
game with all its glitter, the student-run booths, the band and
spectators of all ages.
Here's an activity suggestion:
Aside from the usual Friday night drinks at Maud's, I'm going to
recommend optional dinner and drinks all night long Saturday night at
the bar and restaurant that was Manzi's/19 Main. It is now called the
Rainwater Cafe. I highly recommend the lobster mac & cheese and the
peanut butter and chocolate martinis!
LET THE DISCUSSIONS BEGIN!

October. (?) We'll have to wait for the school to decide to solidify our plans.
Speaking of Homecoming Weekend, I'm scared to write this and muddy the waters

Peter!
Thank you for your volunteerism. Know that the only work so far --
which you most certainly can do from your perch in Italy -- is to help
tally the votes and solidify a weekend date and to find missing people
via the Internet. After that, there is no
work except for any new ideas which are the exception to the
tradition.
Tradition carried us through our 30th reunion. It took barely any work
to plan. We just showed up at the following venues. The pictures can
be seen at this link:
http://www.art-cetera.com/hastings/30th/pics.htm
Fri Night: Maud's for drinks
Sat Morning: High School Tour
Sat Afternoon: Picnic somewhere (That year, Glenn Martin reserved the
American Legion for us)
Sat Night: Chart House for drinks and/or optional dinner
Not Scheduled: Sat/Sun Wee hours Impromptu Gathering (Hell, we still
had picnic food at the American Legion!)
Sunday Morning: Teacher's Stickball Game (At the time, we had Mr.
Rittner, Mr. Tucker, Mr. Weishaus and Mr. Ettinger, but since then we
lost Mr. Tucker and Mr. Rittner moved to Florida so he could play all
year long.)
Sunday Champagne Brunch at Maud's (with the teachers)
Sunday Late Afternoon: Hillside Hike
Sunday Evening - Harvest-on-Hudson
Monday Morning - Hastings Historical Society with Mrs. Drewes
I would throw into the mix the new 19 Main/Manzi's for one of the
nights to save money over the more expensive -- but still great --
Chart House (now Half Moon) or Harvest. It is called The Rainwater
Cafe and boasts Maud's prices and some interesting dishes like Lobster Mac
& Cheese and Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwiches.
Note, we were working with a 3-day weekend, and would have to scale
back for a normal weekend.
Homecoming Weekend would add the Saturday
afternoon game and other festivities to the list. (Regardless the
weekend, we would welcome all other classmates from other classes to
join us, as they have invited us to join them.)
So alerting a venue that we are coming was all the work the above took. On
the other
hand...
What took A LOT OF HARD WORK was when Billy Kotiatis stepped to the
plate and gave us a wonderful BBQ at the Palisades Boat Club for our
50th Birthday bash.

So Peter, thank you for joining the planning committee. Let's see what
happens. If someone steps forward and we opt for more than just
showing up at existing locations, we will certainly need your help.
Thanks so much.
