Subject: Free Movie Screening
Dear Friends,
If you are in the NY area, I hope you will consider attending this special screening.
From what I've seen(over forty minutes of footage), I truly believe DreamWork's "MADAGASCAR" will be even more popular than either "Shrek" or "Shrek2," and those films earned an academy award and the highest grossing animated film award respectively.
"MADAGASCAR" stars the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith, Andy Richter, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer.
For information on how to attend this showing, two weeks before the film even opens nationally, please visit our website at
www.art-cetera.com/hastings
and RSVP before noon Friday the 13th.
Hope you can find a way to attend,
Alan

Subject: Première of Madagascar
Hi Everyone -- Last weekend, we went to go see the première of Madagascar with five of our kids. They loved it. The car drive from Ct was well worth seeing the movie. Upon arrival we were greeted with Krispy Kreme donuts, fresh buttered popcorn, cold bottled spring water and or fountain soda. My kids were so happy because they love Krispy Kreme donuts. The movie was sooooo funny. We all truly enjoyed it and laughed quite a bit. The resolution on the screen was great too. I loved the way the lion's fur just blew in the breeze. The kids and my dear sweet husband loved the movie too. Not only did we get all of this, but while exiting the theater, each kid was given a shopping bag filled with stuffed animals from France. Each stuffed animal was one of the characters from the movie. That special touch really put the experience over the top.
I just wanted to thank Alan for always thinking of us, because, this was truly a great treat for us.
BTW -- I hope at the next première, I bump into others from Hastings. If not, see you in October.
Warm regards, Niki (Michaelides)

Thanks, you also!
Had a nice day with my daughters. They spent the weekend at my ex-wife's parents, so I went over there today to swim with them, then out to dinner and ice cream. They're leaving for camp this week (in Glen's Falls, as it turns out). I'll be picking them up on like the 14th or 15th of July and we'll be in Boston and Rhode Island to see my parents for the following week.
Hope everyone is doing well. I don't know if she found you all here, but Anne Kapfer (whom I have an enormous crush on even to this day! lol) registered with an alumni board I belong to. I told her about the reunion this fall, and pointed her to Alan's website, so Alan, keep an eye out for her. She's moved to New Jersey after having spent years in Colorado.
My best to all!
Greg

Subject: Homecoming Date Changed
Dear Class of ’75 and friends who wish to join our celebration,
We need to rally together to figure out what we want to do. Nancy Skultety Gagliardi just learned that the high school has changed the date of the Homecoming Game this year. It is no longer the three-day Columbus Day weekend we voted to be the date of a reunion, but the week following.
First let me say for all of us how much this sucks. Had we known, I wonder how many people would have voted for other weekends? As it is, if people are locked into travel arrangements which cannot be changed, we should honor the original date.
Please reply to this email by the weekend if possible and let us know if you are stuck with the agreed weekend, otherwise I’ll put together another voting page (which would be a pain for all of us, especially me).
The issue: whether to trade a three-day weekend with an away game at Woodlands at 1:30PM for a two-day weekend with Homecoming events, including student booths and a game against Eastchester at Reynolds Field.
Both weekends -- of course -- would include our usually successful events of cocktails, a school tour, picnics, and softball as listed on the website.
So if your plans are inflexible, please reply to this email ASAP.
Thanks,
Alan

Since nobody in the Midwest even knows what Columbus Day is, it's technically a two-day weekend for me anyway! Other than that, I'm completely flexible, but agree wholeheartedly with other observations on there that whatever is happening in Hastings that weekend, it pales in comparison to seeing all of you. I mean, it's not like we were intending to go to the homecoming dance anyway...Wouldn't the high schoolers just HATE us showing up there?! hahahahahahahaha!

I am not one of your classmates, however am married to Barbara Harnack. Furthermore,
my mother - Betty Warren - was a 1938 alumnus. But the reason I am writing is
to open a dialogue about something that we all have in common:
During the depression, my grandfather Jack A Warren was commissioned WPA to
make a mural which now resides in the dinning room of Hastings High. It is titled
"Westward Ho!" Although I have the studies for it, they are in such
condition that I do not handle them. In February Barbara and I visited it and
saw that it is in pretty rough condition. In fact some ten or so feet is actually
gone!
George Foster, superintendent of buildings and grounds of Hastings School District
has been researching restoration and funding. I had never had much interest
until I saw it and understood what Jack was trying to illustrate. I am hopeful
that with public and private funds we can get it restored and I could donate
some of the studies as display/ support material.
As Barbara and I are [hopeful] that we can attend the class reunion, I am looking
to create a dialogue and find out if anyone in the class of '75 has any interest
in the mural and in this process and project of restoration.
Michael Lancaster
PS: Did anyone know that Jack Warren co-created "Pecos Bill" in Hastings
circa 1929 - 1938?

Michael,
I will forward this email to the "Hastings Historian," the publication of the Hastings Historical Society. They have mentioned this mural in previous issues and might have suggestions or ideas already in place. And they would be thrilled to know you have the original studies used by the artist to render the piece.
See http://www.hastingshistorical.org/newslettercovers/2003_spring.html
For us, maybe another reunion memorial fund in the name of our classmates could be directed to this endeavor?

is actually gone!
> George Foster, superintendent of buildings and grounds of Hastings School
District has been researching restoration and funding. I had never had much
interest until I saw it and understood what Jack was trying to illustrate. I
am hopeful that with public and private funds we can get it restored and I could
donate some of the studies as display/ support material.

am looking to create a dialogue and find out if anyone in the class of '75 has
any interest in the mural and in this process and project of restoration.

The idea of fundraising for this is great--a chance to put back into the school the life it brought to us. I wonder if it would be possible to organize some sort of charity auction on eBay? Anyone every done anything like that? I hear of groups of people doing it, but have never participated in one.

Alan,
What a nice idea, since we've lost a number since our first memorial. Can we
add the names to our plaque or get a new one for these names?
Greetings to all!
