re-assuring to meet someone who moved more than me! That is why Alan retired

they move to Cortland, NY. Pat Sinatra can reminisce w/ Cynthia at the next

some of our College students have break Columbus Day week-end, I'm sure
Emily does not want to spend the whole week-end w/ me. Steve Bass- you still

Subject: Cortland
Hmm. Someone actually lives in Cortland --- voluntarily?
I lived there for six years. As some of you are aware, Cortland is nestled between
Ithaca, Binghamton, and Syracuse and close to the finger lakes, the countryside
is scenic and beautiful--particularly from the spring - fall. However, the winters
can be brutal. Like Ithaca, I can remember walking to campus in sub zero temperatures.
Like many towns in upstate New York, SUNY is the major employer. Cortland was
no exception.
I used to work at Greek Peak ski resort in Virgil, NY, approximately midway
between Ithaca and Cortland. Unlike the soft powder in Tahoe and Colorado, at
Geek Peak (as we fondly used to called it), the snow was often hidden by intermittent
patches of ice. I was a kamikaze skier.
As it turned out, I was also kamikaze driver. Early one winter morning, I was
driving on a gravel road that was just outside of the resort. As I reached the
crest of a hill, I started to skid out of control. Darn, the gravel had turned
to ice. My car rolled over into a ditch--with me in it, of course. I totaled
my little bright orange Datsun Honeybee (my first car). Bathed in glass, I managed
to walk a way from it unscathed.
Six months later, after I had bought a new car, an inebriated attorney ran
a stop sign and broadsided my little Honda civic, totaled that car, and almost
me. I ended up in Cortland Hospital with a 15 stitches in my head and a severe
concussion.
But, despite all that, I miss the bucolic setting of Cortland and Upstate New
York and have wonderful memories. It is a great little town. Cold winters be
damned.

Hello all,
Yes, I do still exist. I still live up in Rochester, NY. I am planning to
come to the reunion. My work schedule can be unpredictable at times but I
have every intention of being there. I'm looking forward to seeing you
all...and didn't Jamie tell you...he has invited the entire class of '75 to
stay at his house. I think we should all thank Jamie for his hospitality.
