Subject: Reunion Help and a Call to Vote!
Dear classmates of the 70's and teachers,
I am proud to say the Class of '75's reunion events have been slowly tested and perfected over the years, and not just by us. Other classes have used our events as a model with much success. The best part about our events is that no one has to do any set-up or tear-down work, and no one has to spend any money. (To see a list of events, please visit our site at www.art-cetera.com/hastings.)
But there is still one thing we need to do...
TELL EVERYONE ABOUT IT.
Right now, there is an active voting page on our site. There you can vote online for the reunion weekend of your choice.
Now as of this email, 101 people are aware of this voting page and the approach of our reunion. But what of the others who do not have email addresses or are not on our list?
I volunteer to pay for and run off invitational postcards. All I ask in return -- other than to be bought drinks at the reunion -- is that people quickly go to our database page and check the addresses for accuracy. (Some have not been updated since we graduated!) If you have updated information on anyone, please email me as soon as possible. I would like to get invitations to vote out by the end of January.
As for how the vote is tabulated, and all the rules and regs, that is all on the site.
I hope you folks won't mind if I don't send YOU a postcard. Please consider THIS your official invitation to vote.
Hopefully, the postcards will get people who didn't know about our website to start using it, so we might be less dependent on postage in the future.
That's all for now. Thanks in advance for your help and by all means, start voting.

Greetings to All!
I will cast my vote online, but just wanted to mention a few things.....
A lot of our kids are getting to the age where they will be starting
college (or are already in college) so the end of the summer gets
difficult to go out-of-town when you're in the middle of getting them
off to school. That, coupled with a summer family vacation, makes it
kinda tough to schedule another trip (time and expense). What does the
group think about scheduling something in the fall and going to a
Hastings football game on Saturday as a group?
Just a thought....

Hey, a member of the class of '78 here...
We organized our 25th reunion around Homecoming Weekend (which turned out
to be Columbus Day weekend) and were able to watch a home game (Hastings
won!) as a group, visit with some of our old teachers and coaches as well
as each other.
Coincidentally, there was a re-enactment going on (the Batle of Edgars
Lane) that classmates could also experience, and the Saturday Farmer's
market down by the Hastings Public Library. The reunion planning group
hardly had to do much besides send out emails and encourage folks to come!
(OK, there was that "updating the emails" chore...time well spent)
You might want to tap into anything that's already scheduled in Hastings
and see what weekend works for all of you. Does the town still do their
July 4th parade? That might be fun for those who have been away from it for
awhile...

Hilariously, Marce, I was getting married that fall. My bachelor party was all planned, as I later found out. When Gloria hit, of course, we all had much more important things to do than party. So I too missed out on the 10th reunion, and a bachelor party to boot! (If you believe in symbols, Gloria was a fine symbol for that marriage!)
Hope to see you there.

A lot is going on, not the least of which is a call to vote on the date of our 30th High School Reunion. Most everything is accomplished over the Internet now at little or no expense. Please visit:
www.art-cetera.com/hastings
or send an email to
hastings@art-cetera.com
and sign up for our email class bulletin board, where over one hundred classmates, teachers and friends of our class (members of the classes of the ‘70s) communicate. One email to that address is automatically forwarded to all participants.
These tools are how we have come this far in the planning, but we have reached
our limit without you. Now we need your help to pick a date that fits into your
busy schedule.
So please visit www.art-cetera.com/hastings, submit the voting page before the
3/1/05 deadline, see our senior yearbook and eighth grade pictures along with
many other features including essays and stories about many topics including
what happened at the 20th and 25th reunions.
As is tradition, all the activities for our 30th will be essentially free all weekend. (In fact, this mailing will hopefully be our only expense.) Please consider joining us.

Round one voting for a Class of '75 30th Reunion date is now over. The clear winners of the initial vote were the following weekends:
July 8-10, 2005
July 15-17, 2005 and
October 7-10, 2005
(Three-day Homecoming Columbus Day Weekend)
Editorial Opinion: Those of us who are local should probably plan something for Homecoming on the Columbus Day Weekend regardless of the vote.
There is pressure to quickly decide on a final reunion date, so if there is no objection, could we please move the second vote deadline up from 4/1/05 to 3/15/05?
The same rules apply:
Vote for as many weekends as you want.
Change your vote as many times as needed.
Friends and members of adjoining classes are also welcome to vote, because we will use their votes toward breaking ties.
On 3/16/05 the winning date will be posted and an email sent.
So please visit www.art-cetera.com/hastings to vote when you get the chance and hope to see you one of those weekends.

Hi everyone!
Either the first or last of those three weekends works for me. I won't be able to make it if our reunion is July 15-17. My daughters have a Dad-and-Daughter Brownie Camp that weekend. I love you all dearly but the chance to spend a weekend in the woods with my daughters plus 100 or so other cheerful, lively girls (and their dads!) is too much to pass up.
So I guess I'm lobbying here for the other weekend in July or Columbus Day/Homecoming Weekend. (I wouldn't mind Homecoming Weekend, even though Michigan for some reason doesn't observe Columbus Day, since it is "homecoming" weekend and I always feel like I am coming home when I go back to Hastings.)
There's my two cents.
Barry, I lost your email, please resend so I can write you.

I am still working for the Louisiana State Police (22 years) as a sergeant
assigned to the gambling section in New Orleans. My wife, Joanne, was
recently promoted to colonel and she is the director of army personnel in
Louisiana. I have two sons. Patrick is in ninth grade and Daniel is in fifth
grade.
Although I was unable to attend the two previous reunions, I will make every
effort to attend the next one.

Okay everyone,
We are getting old. We are old. Do we really want a summer reunion that will
perhaps involve a pool party. Do we really want our fellow class mates to
see us in bathing suits? Vote for homecoming weekend!!!

Although I will be up in June for my son graduation from HS, I think the
fall would be great, living in Texas for the last 5 years I miss the fall
weather and changing of the leave. So please mark me down for the Oct
reunion.
