For the past two years, I have been working on a documentary about legendary
country singer/songwriter Hank Williams. On Wednesday, June 23 it will be
part of the PBS American Masters series seen coast-to-coast on PBS stations.
Your humble correspondent was the executive producer for the program, that
will air not only here in the U.S., but on the BBC later this year (and a
number of other foreign countries as well).

You don't have to like country to like this show. It's a story about
American popular music's first true superstar, his rise to fame at the dawn
of the television age and his sudden death at age 29. Tune in if you can.

Well said. We have lost a person who can be used to define the meaning of "true
friend". The strength and dignity that the Fleming and Collins families have
displayed though this difficult period is the ultimate tribute to Chucks memory. Tom
Fleming gave the most beautiful eulogy honoring his bothers memory and at the same
time gave all in attendance the peace to know that Chuck's legacy will live on
through his children and his wonderful Pam. We
have lost a friend but Chuck's sister Mary may have said it best when she said, "We
now have a friend in heaven we can now talk to".

If you are in town and do not have a July 4th plan yet, here's a novel one.

The Chart House in Dobbs Ferry has views of fireworks displays in Dobbs Ferry, AS WELL AS Irvington and Tarrytown from their outdoor patios.
They do not take reservations, but if you arrive around 7PM, choice spots should still be available. (Come earlier if you are concerned.)
Sunset is around 7:45pm and fireworks should start around 8:30/9pm.

Subject: Fwd: New Stamp!

We need those of you who are great at forwarding information to your
e-mail network. Please read and pass this on. It would be wonderful if
2004 were the year a cure for breast cancer were found!!!!

This is one e-mail you should be glad to pass on. The notion that we could
raise $35 million by buying a book of stamps is powerful!

As you may be aware, the US Postal Service recently released its new
"Fund the Cure" stamp to help fund breast cancer research. The stamp was
designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland. It is important that
we take a stand against this disease that affects so many of our mothers,
sisters and friends.

Instead of the routine 37 cents for a stamp, this one costs 40 cents.
The additional 3 cents will go to breast cancer research. A "normal" book
costs $7.40. This one is only $8.00. It takes a few minutes in line at
the Post Office and means so much. If all stamps are sold, it will
raise an additional $35,000,000 for this vital research.

Just as important as the money is our support. What a statement it
would make if the stamp outsold the lottery this week. What a statement it
would make that we care. I would urge you to do two things TODAY:

1. Go out and purchase some of these stamps.

2. E-mail your friends to do the same. We all know women and their
families whose lives are turned upside-down by breast cancer. It takes
so little to do so much in this drive. I think we can all afford the
additional 60 cents the new book costs.

Please help & pass this on

Subject: Free Scan

Dear Friends and Teachers,

Someone with a virus and "hastings@art-cetera.com" in his or her address book is sending out many, many emails to that address and may not know it. I have been able to keep these emails from being forwarded to our group of now 95 participants, but the best solution is to stop them at the source.

Could everyone who receives this email please run an antivirus scan as soon as possible? If you don't have one, please use this really good FREE one (in fact, even if you HAVE antivirus software, please try it; it finds things my Norton Antivirus scan did not):

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Hopefully this will solve the current email onslaught hitting our class email server, but even if it doesn't, running antivirus software every so often is just a good idea.

Thanks for helping,

Alan Fine

Greg,

We made the switch. OUR HOME PHONE IS A CELL, and Teri and I each have a cell phone as well. With Verizon, all three phones share a pool of hours (with free nights and weekends) and all calls between each phone is free (as well as calls to other Verizon users).

Here is the cool part. When we go out, we can bring the home phone. What this means is, we can continue -- if we want -- to answer the home phone while away, but more than that, we have an extra battery we can cannibalize if necessary, AND we have a phone we can hand friends as sort of an impromptu walkie-talkie.

As for how many transmitters they have, talk to a salesperson who will be glad to regale you with the stats.

Good luck,

Alan

PS. Your new address information has been updated on the class database.

Hey Alan,
Thanks for reconnecting me to this site and all of the class! Just for everyone's information, Homecoming is Saturday, October 9th, 2 p.m. vs. Tappan Zee.
For those of you who are still interested in the old Hastings/Dobbs rivalry, Hastings has a night game - under lights- this Friday, October 1st, 7 p.m. at Reynolds Field vs. Dobbs.
It doesn't matter what their records are, historically this is always a great game! I'm still coaching the HUDSONETTES so pay attention to the half-time show!!!!!!
Hope all is well,
Nancy

Hello my friends this is Cleve Clarke... It would be really nice to see
all of you. I am still trying to piece together all the names, memories,
stories, and faces. I am flying up to New Jersey for a series of
meetings on the 21st and 22nd of October. I could fly back to Georgia on
Sunday and meet anyone who will be available on that Saturday.

Let me know your schedules.

Cleve Clarke

To recap, both David Walters and Cleveland Clark will be on the east
coast. So here is why we went to school...

...to solve STORY PROBLEMS.

If David will be in NY October 18 through the 28 and Cleveland will be
in New Jersey on the 21st of October possibly through the 23rd, is there
an intersection of these sets for common days in the tri-state area?

My scratch paper notes show a window of opportunity of 10/21- 10/23, a
Thursday through a Saturday (could be Homecoming Weekend). I will make
myself available. Will anyone else?

Alan
(and depending on the timing and venue, Teri)

PS. Keep watching your email. If I ever get some time, I will devise
online voting for the date of our 30th reunion next year.
