Subject: the fleming dynasty

its been a long time since ive worn the green and gold but i can still hear
the chant "rock em!" echoing from the bleachers....not always for me, but as
exciting as it was you couldnt help but stand tall when representing the
yellow jackets......the little pieces of green and yellow crape paper
scattered about the ground after a game..you know...from the cheerleaders pom
poms......i was fortunate enough to experience the feeling of a league
championship [jv football...under the direction of golden] football legends
as hank trahma, steve varvre, ray obriski, george capuano and even gene
hanna still graced the varsity football field at the time..[all be it for one
from the sidelines]... i was playing with the greats of my time...chuck
caruso, billy kodiatis, joey pagan..many more.... and of course...chuck
fleming...the qb.....team captain...and the greatest athlete of that time in
high school sports...as far as i knew......which brings me to the question
at hand..i know sports ..especially high school sports... are the game....the
team exp...the companionship...its not all winning...its how we play the game
....etc..etc....but after all those years as a yellow jacket...and
representing them sooo well in all sports.....dobbs ferry?....do you have the
same feelings now for the blue and white as you did for the green and
gold?....i feel somewhat betrayed......the flemings could have been given
some kind of economic incentive to stay in hastings....come on it happens all
the time....john cap

Cappy,

I love the passion.

It was great talkin to you this morning. Perhaps you could share with the class of '75 the
political storm brewing on the south tip of Long Island. As an elected official from the town
of Dobbs Fery, I must refrain from sharing my thoughts on this subject.

The visual of you leading "your people" against the "evil doers" does have a gang type of flavor to it.
Class of 75 I urge all of you to motivate Cappy to tell his side of this tale.

Anyway, rooting for Dobbs Ferry is not that difficult when your flesh and blood is playing.
The funny thing about returning to the High School last week was how familiar the atomsphere seemed.
However, my focus was squarely on the Blue and White, not the yellow and gold, or in this case, the white uniforms.

Cappy, Continue your quest, follow your passion, and for the good Lord's sake keep me informed.

I don't think the "Problem Solvers" can help you out on this one, enjoy the News. Inside joke class of 75

Take care and God Bless

Chuck

Economic incentive? Hey, this is the era of school of choice...Isn't there
some sort of hardship thing the Flemings can claim to send theirs to
Hastings? The hardship of having to root for a team you killed yourself to
beat for years. That qualifies as a hardship in my book. I know I speak for
one or two of us when I say I'll root for the blue and (ack!) white (eff!)
for Chuck's sake. Just please, don't ask me to paint "Dobbs" on one cheek
and "Ferry" on the other. I'd rather face 5 Tuckahoe linemen than that.

Will someone please write about what happened to our teams for those who could not attend, but are dying to know what happened?

Alan,

Hastings was spanked by Tuckahoe. Tuckahoe later went on to defeat North Salem for the Section C title.

However, The Sacred Heart Terriers 3rd grade girl's team defeated St.Mary's from Katonah 7-6 to win the Westchester/Putnam
Archdiocese Championship. Kudos to your classmate and my wife coach Pam, as well as my little angel, Lauren. The
Sacred Heart Terriers 3rd grade boys team destroyed Annunciation from Yonkers 18-4.

The Terriers now go on to compete for the sectional Arcdiocese Championship against a team from Staten Island on the 22nd.

Hopefully that will close the chapter on this year's Basketball season.

Hi everyone reading this: I heard about all these kids playing at the County
Center recently and was glad even just to realize how many of you are around
and that your kids are doing great...One of my daughters is a top scorer for
her sixth grade basketball team and has her sights on high school ball
someday. (She was undefeated in 5th grade wrestling -male and female- and
her dad is 6' 4", played college basketball, so maybe it'll happen..!) My
other daughter - 14 -is a highly competitive shopper. DaveVirrill - if you
read this I haven't forgotten about writing something about Bob Rittner..

Jane and everyone else,
It seems a bit surreal to be 2500 miles away and learning about your
children's athletic accomplishments. Surreal but good. Here's a California
entry. My eldest, Michael (2nd grade) is a brown belt in Kok Sool Won (a
Korean martial art) and plays soccer and baseball. He had his first Little
League practice this week and is very proud to be the only one able to throw
with two fingers on top and not three (which may mean something to you all
but is Greek to me). Conor (1st grade) is a natural athlete but refuses to
do anything organized. He just climbs, jumps from dizzying heights,
scooters, skateboards, asks for snowboard and surfing lessons-, and wants to
be Steve the Croc Hunter when he grows up. Luckily they both love to write,
which is something I can relate to. The second grade throws publishing
parties. Reminds me a bit of those lunches planning the HHS literary
magazine (what was it called again Jane?).-Louise Francis

Okay. I have to get in on this. Every entry -- Jane's (Jaen's), Ray's, and
Louise's -- made me laugh out loud. The literary magazine was called
"Oneirata," and I'm so proud of myself for remembering that. Peace out.

Wonderful updates all!

Well, my 12 year old son, Joshua, and his mother, have followed in my
footsteps of the only sport I ever really took seriously besides swim
team...Tae Kwon-do. Both achieved black belt status and practice on the
loving man of the house constantly!

Subject: Hastings PAR-TY!

Available Friday, 3/14/03?

Come to Maud's for drinks and/or dinner, 7:30PM to whenever.

Reason?

An out-of-town mystery guest -- who does not wish to be identified -- will be in Hastings and would like to hook up with classmates.
(Okay, I'll give you a hint: that person is one of the 68 on this mailing list.)

So come.

Don't come.

(Ahhh, come.)
