Julie Blasberg directed me to this site...my you folks have been
busy; I'm impressed. I was particularly gratified to see my (stoned)
self in the recently published 8th grade photographs on the web site.
I suppose I should be grateful not to have had a senior picture to
post as well.
Anyway, looks like you all are having a good time getting old so
please add my email address to the list.
Regards,

Dear All,
As winter progresses and we all long for the warm weather to come I thought that I would send in an update to generate some chatter.
My oldest Samantha is away at Philips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire and enjoying the academics and sports Field Hockey/Ice Hockey and Lacrosse in the spring.( Wonder where this came from)
Youngest is in the middle school at Masters ( How could this have happened??) and wants to do everything that her sister does
MY wife Stephanie is embroiled in Zoning board issues as well as her company day to day stuff.
I am still at CSFB-- Boy did we get press this year the Post really has it in for us.
We all keep very busy with our work and social commitments but it always gives me a laugh to come to this site. You all would have appreciated the laughter in the office when I showed them what I looked like in an 8th grade photo from the site.
Take care and I Hope this finds everyone well and happy
Chip

Thanks, Chip, for trying to generate some activity here. It has been a long,
cold winter over there on the East Coast, I hear. Meanwhile, we on the West
Coast enjoyed the warmest January on record.... sorry (not).
We have survived college application hell and are now in the middle of
college acceptance hell. So far, Rachel is four for four in acceptances, but
has no real interest in actually attending any of those schools. She's
holding out for the big guns like USC, Pepperdine and Boston University.
Teenage girls are so fickle.
I'm still keeping those Catholic girls in line at the high school where I
work. And Chip, you would have appreciated the laughter when everyone there
saw our prom picture.
I hope the weather warms up soon for those of you still caught in the deep
freeze.

In case you didn't know, both the Hastings Girls & Boys Basketball Teams
have earned first place! And
during the playoffs last Friday, there were 1200 people in the Cochran Gym against
Dobbs Ferry!
This Friday night, both the boys and girls teams are in the quarter-finals
at the Westchester County Center
(at the end of Central Ave. by Rt. 119)
Girls (Hastings vs. Dobbs Ferry 6:oopm)
Boys (Hastings vs. Tuckahoe 8:15pm).
If they win, the Finals will be sometime this Sunday afternoon. It might be
nice for our class to go cheer
them on, as Karen Koblosh Flaherty's son is a starter! I know I'll be there.

Not only is Karen's son a Varsity Boys Basketball starter, but her ninth
grade daughter starts for the Girl's Varsity. She took the place of our
starting center Sara Cavanaugh who was hit by a car on her way to school two
weeks ago. Tara (Karen's daughter) has stepped in very nicely!!!!!!!
I hope to see many of you at the games. The cost is $6. Get there early,
seating is limited to 3000. We've been there before and it's always crowded.

This is so cool! Good luck to everyone. I won't be able to get back for it,
but my heart is there with you all in the stands. Aside from being my alma
mater, Hastings represents the one true hope for me for basketball glory
these days...our girls team, which had been one of the best in Michigan for
several years running, ran out of talent this year. Our boys team has won a
total of 7 games in the past 4 years combined. So go Yellowjackets!

Cappy and all others who were wondering,
Thanks for your concern. Yes, the Fleming family was represented,
but was soundly defeated last Thursday evening before a packed
crowd in Hastings. My oldest son CJ plays for that team just north of
Hastings, Dobbs Ferry.
Anticipation was high with visions of an upset by the Dobbs Ferry
Eagles.
However, Hastings would not entertain such a thought. The Yellow Jackets
are ranked #1 in the state in Class C. CJ did score the first
10 points of the game
for Dobbs (16-12 after one) and kept it close for a half, 29-18. In the second
half
Hastings just buried them.
The gym was packed with some familiar faces, Dave Riggs and Eric Sanders to name two.
CJ did have a good year and next year Dobbs will return all five starters.
Last year as a sophmore pitcher CJ and Dobbs defeated Hastings in the sectional,
so I guess this defeat was pay back time, at least until baseball season.
And Cappy, Fleming's will be represented in a championship game this
Sunday morning
at Iona Prep. The third grade Sacred Heart team of which my daughter Lauren
plays for
and Pam coaches (they are undefeated) will be playing against St.Patrick's
for the county
championship. Yours truly is the official score keeper and loves it ! Game
time is 9:15.
At 10:15 the third grade boys team plays for the championship as well. My Brother
Tommy
is the coach and my nephew is on the team. The Fleming's will be well
represented this weekend.
Susan, I have two nephews playing for Pleasantville. My Brother's son
is a senior and Loretta's boy
started several times as a Freshman.
I am hoping to attend the Hastings game tomorrow.
Take care and God Bless,
Chuck
