RE: testing
Dear
Chuck and other subscribed members,
Thanks
for the test email. I noticed a problem so have changed a few
settings
on our email server.
We now
have eleven active members and the list should continue to grow as
people
slowly check their email or back into the message board page of our
site.
Please
help test this thing out by chiming in your thoughts on:
The
last message board
Whether
other classes should be allowed to join our group
Alan
PS.
Remember, you now can post a response to the group at
hastings@art-cetera.com
or to me privately at afine@art-cetera.
I
welcome both, but would prefer group responses so I can continue to tweak
this
system.
Strategy:
I generally hit the "reply all" button rather than the
"reply"
button,
because the computer will pre-address the email for BOTH SITUATIONS
and I
can remove one email address or the other.

Alan,
I hope
this system weeds out any misrepresentation in the future. No one
enjoys
a joke better then myself, however, after the reading the "Bunny",
Bunny
confused", and some of "Moffo's" comments, it was time to take
action.
I can't
believe those people are serious.
Once
again, your commitment to the class of 75' must be commended.
Take
care,
Chuck

RE: Unknown
Pat,
Your
subscription (see below) was rejected for 2 reasons:
1) For
the security to work, you need to physically be on
psinatra@mindspring.com
when you send the subscription message.
2) As
it is automated, you must put "subscribe" in the subject box. Had you
done
that with this email, Mindspring would not be authorized to
participate,
only Matx.
The
whole idea is that only you can initiate -- or cancel -- a subscription
from
your password protected email.
Why
don't you subscribe from both accounts?

'South
Park' awaits election outcome
NEW
YORK (AP) - Trey Parker and Matt Stone are having a party Tuesday night
to
watch election returns, and not because they have a deep interest in tax
policy
or Social Security reform. The winner of the presidential election
between
George W. Bush and Al Gore will be the lead character of their new
sitcom.
The "South Park" creators have signed a deal with Comedy Central to
produce
"Family First," which they describe as a subversive comedy series
about
the life of the next president. It's scheduled to debut on Feb. 28.
Picture
Al and Tipper Gore, or George and Laura Bush, as a sitcom couple who
leave
the West Wing at the end of the day for the typical sitcom living room
with chairs
and a couch. Maybe Al, like Dick Van Dyke, will trip over an
ottoman.
Or George and his family will ride into Washington like the Beverly
Hillbillies.
Hilarity ensues.

Thanks
from here, Alan, as well, for your work on behalf of our site. Which
brings
me to my 2 cents (about all I have left lol) on the "other classes"
question: Will it bring you help in keeping the site
updated? (I am not
suggesting
that your efforts are poor--but it does seem like a lot of work
for you
and wonder if you want help...so...Do you want that help?) Will
there
be meddling between classes' postings, etc.?
If we vote for things,
can we
do it through an electoral process or are votes of younger, less
informed,
less experienced voters somehow going to cancel ours out? Can I
change
the site of the 25th reunion, or is it too late? Have you seen my
undershorts? I lost them.

RE: testing
Dear
Greg (and everyone else eavesdropping),
Those
of you new to this kind of public forum should know a couple of
things.
I am currently answering Greg's posting, which is below mine. Often
when
reading one of these answers, you will need to scroll down to see the
original
letter or not know what the hell is being discussed.
Just so
you know, In Greg's email below, I noticed how much room the email
header
takes up when scrolling down to see what he wrote, so I'll will
modify
it to be shorter. By the way, email
etiquette states that you are
supposed
to clean emails of extra headers, footers and ">" marks before
forwarding
them. Too bad not enough people do this. (If you want to learn
how,
write me.)
Now,
Greg, the question of whether to allow other classes to use this email
service
is not an urgent one (notice how I restate GREG'S email for the
benefit
of lazy eavesdroppers who DON'T want to scroll down to see Greg's
actual
note); merely fodder to start our discussions. It is based on
representatives
of other classes emailing me and asking how they should go
about
having a web presence like us.
Yes,
the website was a lot of work, but it's done now so I don't need help.
The
hard part was building the structure. Just putting up new pictures and
news
flashes until the next reunion will be no problem, and this email
bulletin
board is automated so I don't have to do anything (not true; every
so
often I thought I'd post these messages on the web for unsubscribed
classmates
to get them involved. I wonder how long I'll bother to do that
though...
any thoughts?)
I
personally just want just our class using this message service, but am
open to
other thoughts. After all, I have friends slightly older and younger
than us
from back then who I consider my classmates too. On the other hand,
I truly
feel as if the class of '75 is may immediate nuclear family, while
the
other classes are more my aunts, uncles and cousins.
Anyway,
hope those subscribed are finding this interesting and chime in once
in a
while. Lord knows I'm busy and want to be an eavesdropper soon.
Alan

Comedy Election Follow Up
In an
interview with the online magazine Salon, South Park creators Trey
Parker
and Matt Stone, who have agreed to produce a new live-action sitcom
about
the presidential family called Family First for Comedy Central, said
that
the tight finish was, in Parker's words, "great for us, for the
show."
Regardless
of the final outcome, they pointed out, "we're going to have a
president
that literally half the country doesn't want in there." Parker
explained
that, as he and Stone saw it, the contest was between two "big
dorks"
-- either of which would make an ideal character for their sitcom.
"With
Gore it was about a big dork trying to run Washington. And with Bush
it was
about a big-fish-out-of-water dork trying to run Washington." (By the
way,
Parker and Stone both indicated that they didn't vote.)

I Love NY
Speaking
about the lower-than-expected ratings for Fox's coverage of the
World
Series, News Corp. President Peter Chernin blamed the downturn on the
fact
that the series featured two teams from New York. He said that
initially
the network "had some hope that it would captivate the country."
However,
the low ratings proved otherwise.
"Clearly,"
Chernin said, "the rest of the country still hates New York."
