Dear HHS Alumnus,

We are both Hastings High School graduates (Nancy '75 and Jody '69) and would like to tell you about the Hastings Education Foundation, a not-for-profit organization designed to provide inspiration and funding for supplemental programs, projects and materials to benefit the children of the Hastings public school district.

The Foundation was established in 1997 with the full support of the School Board and Superintendent of Schools John J. Russell. Like so many of our neighbors (similar foundations have been started in many other Westchester communities, including Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley, lrvington and Bronxville), we were motivated by rising school taxes, declining state aid and a desire to enrich the curriculum without further burdening taxpayers.

Among our many goals:

We are very proud that in just three years we have raised over $150,000 in contributions ranging from $5.00 to $5000.00. Included in this was a one-time anonymous $25,000 donation from two families that was used to air-condition the High School Auditorium and upgrade its sound system.

We have also funded:

Getting the Foundation off the ground has been a tremendous undertaking, requiring the support of everyone who shares our sense of pride in our village and our school system.
